Following graduation I moved to a new practice where Alex was working as a locum nurse. I couldn’t have asked for a better or more supportive work colleague to help build my confidence as newly qualified nurse. Not only is she a fierce advocate for animal welfare but she is completely devoted to each and every patient she is caring for, both in practice at home where she continues to learn and develop her skills.

Lorna Janet Jahn RVN,

Alex joined our practice as a locum and settled in really well. From day one she proved to be a valuable member of the team and implemented a lot of positive changes. She took on the clinical coach role really well and was always happy to answer any question I had. Her knowledge and passion is something to be admired and made me realise the kind of nurse I want to be. Her enthusiasm and support as a clinical coach was second to none and she always went above and beyond for not just the students, but the entire team. A true gem of the ever dwindling nursing world and someone I shall always go to for advice and knowledge!

Alix Calvert, Student Veterinary Nurse,

“Alex has worked at Astonlee as a locum and as an employee.  She is a very good veterinary nurse, pays attention to detail and has a passion for care, especially for cats.  She takes responsibility for and enjoys carrying out projects involving maintenance and improvement of nursing care, and training of staff”

Dr Paul Manning, Astonlee Veterinary Hospital

“As a part time vet, I had worked with Alex for nearly a year. Firstly her sense of humour with both colleagues and clients shines through! Secondly she manages high pressure situations brilliantly – I was glad to have her there when we had to resuscitate a cat for instance! Thirdly she has a great wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly but certainly not exclusively with cats. I was keen to engage her services now she is working as a locum at my new practice”
